When Coleman graduated from Ole Miss in 2000, she had a family and a business degree and was eager to kickstart her career. However, securing that elusive first job proved more challenging than she anticipated, until she stumbled upon a job posting at EZ Tax, which was searching for tax preparers.

"I had never previously handled tax returns," Coleman admitted. "But one thing I excel at is job interviews." Initially, Coleman landed the position for a modest wage of $7 per hour. She gradually ascended to the branch manager role at EZ Tax's Water Valley office through dedication and hard work. Eventually, a unique opportunity presented itself.

In 2010, Coleman boldly moved to acquire the business from its original owner, Brian Martinson. Interestingly, Coleman was Martinson's first interviewee when he inaugurated EZ Tax, creating a poetic connection.

Recalling their initial meeting in 2000 and Coleman's impressive track record in leading the Water Valley branch, Martinson found it easy to entrust her with the business.

"She's been essentially running it the entire time," Martinson affirmed.

As EZ Tax transitioned from Water Valley to Oxford, Coleman seized the chance to bring in student interns from the University of Mississippi and retirees seeking alternative employment. "I remember how vital it was for me as a student to gain real-life experience," Coleman reflected. "This job was a stepping stone for me, and I'm determined to provide the same opportunity to others."

The ethos of helping others aligns perfectly with the company's core principles, as EZ Tax emerged in response to grievances expressed by residents about existing tax firms.

"Our primary focus is on treating people how we would want to be treated ourselves," Coleman explained. "I'm dedicated to delivering the tax services our clients desire and require, all while showing them the respect they deserve."
